The bakery trailer is operational! Many thanks to Todd at Bachmann Construction, as well as Jacina & Chris Krohn for getting us over the finish line last Thursday night. Additional shout-out to Habitat ReStore for having the perfect cabinet and cast-iron enamel sink for our project, as well as the Madison east side Home Depot for having everything else. I'll continue to add more upgrades as time goes by - first one on the list is expanding the bakery display as well as adding a vinyl chalkboard sticker to the left of the window. I have dreams of copper plant holders under the side windows, just for the extra touch of whimsy!
This past weekend was a big milestone for Far Breton Bakery. The main reason for the construction hustle on the the trailer was so that we could attend the Food Truck Friday in Eau Claire last Friday. So, eight hours after finishing the trailer, we were back in the kitchen making our signature all butter croissants, sugar buns, galettes, and kouign amman. And another 2.75 hours later found Jacina and myself at the beautiful Phoenix Park in downtown Eau Claire. As most of you know, Eau Claire is where I got my start as bakery owner as The French Confection on Water Street, followed by Marie's Original Bakery on Barstow Street. It was totally gratifying to see so many devoted customers from a decade ago! We'll be back in Eau Claire in three weeks for the next Food Cart Friday, and I expect that we will be quite busy now that the word has gotten out. We also got our beautiful logo transformed into large vinyl stickers, courtesy of Ibis Creative Studio (thanks, Chris & Eric!) which got installed up in Eau Claire right before coming home. The photo above is from yesterday at the Northside Farmers Market - where we got to test out the trailer our busiest venue to date! Jacina and Maria Christina got settled right in and did a great job of selling out yesterday.
The City of Madison is just launching a program for food truck vendors to increase access to city parks and we should see an announcement soon regarding some type of permit program that will enable us to find a semi-permanent spot on Fridays somewhere in the city. I will announce the location as soon as possible!
At any rate, I'm just really enjoying the completion of this trailer - I've been planning this for a few years now, and it's so gratifying how it all came together. Some finishing touches yet to come, but it will be good to have a little time off to enjoy where the trailer is at in the meantime. The next stage will be looking at power sources for cooling equipment in order to expand our bakery repertoire. Thanks so so much for your continued support of myself and my fantastic bakery team as we continue to grow Far Breton Bakery. We're very proud of the work that we do as bakers and so proud to continue to call Madison's North side our home!
Cheers, Marie
